Philippe, the flying winemaker

After having worked 10 years at Domaine Chabanon in Lagamas, near Montpellier, Philippe Formentin, became a « flying winemaker », consulting at vineyards around the world – in California, Corsica, Russia, and India.

In 2011, Philippe discovered a small winery nestled in the wild « Garrigue » – the south of France equivalent to the « Outback » – just outside Clermont l’Hérault. Here in the foothills of the Larzac, Philippe has brought life to his dream of making his own natural artisan wine.
Philippe’s first trial Cuvée, « Opi d’aqui », 2011, quickly sold out. Encouraged by this success, Philippe has created for the 2012 vintage, 5 distinctive natural cuvées.

Opi d’Aqui, meaning “From here” in Occitan (the local language) became the name of his winery.

Philippe’s wines are made from grapes grown according to the precepts of organic and biodynamic agriculture. Grapes from different plots with clay-limestone soils and various exposures allow the grenache and mourvèdre to mature in optimal conditions.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row et_full_width=”true” et_row_padding=”true” css=”.vc_custom_1579745131496{padding-top: 80px !important;padding-bottom: 40px !important;background-color: #f2f2f2 !important;}”][vc_column][vc_row_inner et_column_align=”align-center” equal_height=”yes” el_class=”align-center”][vc_column_inner animation=”animation bottom-to-top” offset=”vc_col-lg-5″][vc_column_text]
